Derrière l’horizon

Fahrad Ostovani

Exhibition from October 28th 2021
to January 15th 2022
This fall the gallery will be presenting a solo show by artist Farhad Ostovani. Yet the counterpoint, the face-to-face, the dialogue between artists remains. Here they take the form of an inner dialogue between the artist and his “other”. It is an exercise of intimate introspection by the artist, painting the vestige of his past in an Iran that no longer exists, that which remains when memory fails us.

The work of this Iranian artist – which spans almost fifty years – is not only the testimony of nostalgia and memory, but an oeuvre that resonates like the stanzas of a single long poem, a meditation on time, art, melancholy, dislocation and love. As Rûmî wrote:

“Listen to the reed flute lament and go on about separation.
Ever since I was cut from the reedbed, through my cries men and women have lamented (…) Whoever remains far from his source longs for the moment when he will be united with it again.”
